LEE TUNNEL SHAFT LININGS
The Lee Tunnel – Tideway Pumping Station is an 87m deep x 38m diameter shaft located at Thames Water’s Beckton STW. Constructing the shaft involved three slipform operations; first was the 38m diameter internal lining; second, two lift/stairwells and third, the central wall, slipformed in 2014.
The central wall divides the pumping station into two halves; each half housing three transfer pumps. It is a single straight wall 38m long x 4m wide at the bottom tapering to 1m at the top for which the slipform rig was designed especially for the project.
